Hello!

Welcome to my page, I am Anca Serbanescu!
I define myself as an explorer:
šŸ’” a designer,Ā
šŸ¤– a PhD researcher,
šŸ” trekking and climber addicted,
šŸˆā€ā¬› a cat lover.

I am a PhD candidate in Design at Politecnico di Milano working on ā€œHuman-AI system co-creativity. Understanding the relationship between the designer and the AI systems in the field of Interactive digital narrativeā€. My PhD study investigates human-AI system co-creativity, a collaborative relationship between humans and AI systems to support the creative design process of creating interactive digital narratives (IDNs). In particular, the interest is in constructing a narrative world (NW) in an AI system, with which the designer can collaborate to create and explore characters for IDNs’ experiences. My background as a communication designer brings her to face the gap between Design studies, and the HCI discipline. My field of investigation and interest are interactive digital narratives (IDN), storytelling, story world building and knowledge representation.

I graduated with honours in 2018 in Communication Design at the School of Design of Politecnico di Milano with a thesis on territorial promotion through cycling tourism. I am a member of Imagis Lab research Lab and the ARDIN Graduate Research Committee. Currently based in Milano after five months exchange period at INDElab UvA, Amsterdam.

Collaborator to project
ACTS – A Chance Through Sport
Is a project about spaces and social reintegration in Milanese prisons. In such context of detention, sports practice is considered an important resource for: the improvement of individual well-being, the development of relational skills and contact with the reality outside the prison. The approach is based on a process of listening to the populations who live in the three prisons, through the use of stories, visual and multimedia artefacts co-produced with the beneficiaries, which support the dialogue between the prisoners and the other actors of the system. Based on the results of the listening and critical analysis of the context and a mapping of the stakeholders, a real communication strategy will be defined, useful, on the one hand, to sensitize public opinion; on the other hand, to promote the ACTS project and to show the effectiveness of the experimented program.

Role: project manager and UI designer
The research activity that was carried out regarding the analysis of user profiles of complex search systems on the Web, aimed at creating a service that can be used on various devices, in particular, the interface was designed and developed to be a web app, i.e., an application that does not need to be installed, but which is loaded on a web server and runs directly on the browser. Much of the work was dedicated to the study of users, whose problems, needs and habits related to how to search for certain information on the web were analysed. The result can be seen here.
